NAUTICA, F/W 2010
Nautica designer Chris Cox has the formidable challenge each season of refreshing the brand while anchoring it to its maritime heritage. This season, the results more than satisfied, such as a navy four-pocket waxed cotton jacket, a buffalo plaid wool peacoat and a charcoal twill wool trench. Add to that, a slick brown double-breasted corduroy suit paired with a gray wool turtleneck, terrific houndstooth and windowpane sport coats, and ribbed knits that were professional enough for the office without looking stuffy. Cox pushed a more chic, leisurely look with a Fair Isle quilted sweater jacket paired with dark denim, but for the most part, this was a well-balanced collection that didn’t feel like it was forced for its masculinity to resonate.—Tim Yap
