At the last edition of the Bluezone in September 2013
03 Feb. 2014
Munich Fabric Start is ready for kick-off
The next edition of Munich Fabric Start - to be held from 4 - 6 February 2014 in Munich at the M.O.C. Zentrum – will present the latest textile innovations and industry trends for Spring/Summer 2015. The show will host around 900 exhibitors from 35 countries presenting around 700 fabric manufacturers and 190 accessory makers.
The portfolio will present a mix of materials – from basic to high-end collections - that will occupy an area of 45,000sqm. The show expects to welcome 20,000 visitors, including a constantly increasing percentage in international visitors, “With a select portfolio and market-relevant areas, Munich Fabric Start continues to establish itself and strengthen its position as an international trade fair. The early date of the fair as a season opener, and the strong German market as a basis in the background, are additional factors that contribute to the growing international importance of Munich as an opportunity,” commented managing director Wolfgang Klinder.
This edition’s major inspiring theme will be “Haute Sporture” drawing the market’s attention to a hyped mix of elegance and nonchalance. If on the one side high-tech textiles meet clear styles, on the other the high art of couture meets sporty influences. The creative search for new silhouettes and proportions shows up repeatedly, always with touch of casualness. A sort of harmless hedonism accompanies all trends, implemented with a sporty elegance – transparent and clear. Next to selected contrasted colours, the colour palette features undercover highlights, from pale pastels, soft beiges and shades of white to transparent. The combination of reflective to matt and super-soft to grainy is particularly effective combined with neutral tranquillity. Earthy basics shine with a modern brilliance.
The Bluezone denim-focused section will present itself on 4 - 5 February in Zenith Hall hosting 71 international denim weavers, finishers and washers, will show the latest denim innovations, washes and finishes. Next to established denim insiders such as TRC Candiani, Isko, Orta, Royo, Calik and Lanificio Europa, several new exhibitors will also participate. Among them there will be A&A, Atlantic Mills, Cotonificio Veneto, I.MA.TEX, Fashion Tex, Jass (RMS), M&J, Niggeler & Küpfer, Nokitex-Maibom, Stitch & Trim and other suppliers.
Rounding off the offerings of the Bluezone are the established divisions Greenzone, R.M.S Ready Made Solutions und TiST – Tomorrow is Today, featuring a first sneak peek at the Fall/Winter 2015/16 season. Pure denim inspiration will be found once again in Cube X, after its debut as a creative think tank six months ago. This section will host trend lectures, inspiring collections of rare publications from Soda Books and future visions from Powerhouse. True to the Bluezone season title “Homies & Nerds,” two colliding life philosophies will characterise the play of opposites between denims and flat woven fabrics in the show’s Spring/Summer 2015 trend areas. Alongside the never missing skin-tight jeans some new styles such as jeans with a pleated waistband will also be presented. The diverse repertoire consists of contrasts from loose, trashy, baggy denim looks juxtaposed with accurate, slender silhouettes, combined with repaired patching, bleaching, coded statements, laser motifs, chic biker styles and lots of stretch-denim.
The events related to the show are also evolving. The most appreciated Kessel House After Show Party will be held on the first evening of the trade fair, differently from past editions. The Munich Fabric Start party will start at 6.30pm in the Kesselhaus in the Bluezone area.
