Merc wants to push business in GermanyBritish menswear label Merc is focussing on the German market. The distribution started one season ago and will be forced beginning in January with the collection Fall/Winter 2013.
The collection consists of approximately 100 retro inspired pieces, thus offering a great selection of clothes and accessories, from mod style jackets, or comfortable and stylish polo shirt, to shirts and suits with sharp tailoring and sophisticated details. Key pieces are the classic Harrington jacket, timeless button down shirts, knitwear, cardigans, denims plus fashion items in colourful prints. Basics are also available. Prices range from 69 to 79 Euro for shirts and knitwear, 69 Euro for denims, and 99 Euro for jackets. In Germany the label will deliver about 100 retailers within the next year. Italy, Spain and France are already export markets.
“Germany is important for us”, explains sales manager Andreas Beyer, “we have good response on our price-quality balance.” The family company Merc was established by JavidAlavi in 1967 on Carnaby Street. Originally influenced by, and tailored for, the mod culture, many of the garments that were available then are still sold today as part of the Heritage range which is still today the market sign of Merc.
