MUNICH FABRIC START SETS VISITOR RECORDThe 29th edition of Munich Fabric Start which took place last week (Aug. 31-Sept. 2) set a record regarding visitor numbers. 16,550 visitors attended the trade fair which is 11% more compared to last September’s edition that registered 14,910 visitors. In all the different areas, from the Asia Salon to the Blue Zone, an increase of visitors who wanted to get informed on the latest trends for f/w 2011/12 could be registered. With 33% also the number of international visitors went slightly up, including internationally renowned labels like Burberry, Barbour, G-Star, Tommy Hilfiger and retailers like Topshop and Marks & Spencer.
On the exhibitors’ side the entire German clothing industry was present as well as decision makers and designers from neighbouring countries like Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Eastern Europe states. Enrico Tomassini, managing director Toni Dress, said: “Munich Fabric Start in my opinion is the best textile fair. It is a wonderful platform to get connected. The new structure of Blue Zone is a success and the limited duration of only two days is a great benefit.”
Blue Zone presented a new booth concept and offered new service tools like the Eco Village, an information platform for sustainability, which was overall accepted very well. The positive atmosphere and the increased attendance seemed to represent an improved worldwide economic situation. Moreover, the overall majority of the 780 exhibitors has been registering increasing business volumes since the beginning of the year and is positive about further growth in winter of 2011.
