MORE EXHIBITORS EXPECTED FOR GDS SHOE FAIRFrom September 10-12, 2010 GDS—an international trade show for footwear and accessories—will be putting the newest trends and looks for the 2011 spring/summer ordering season on display in Düsseldorf. About 780 exhibitors (1,800 collections) from 34 countries will present their collections. The fashion and trend fair reports that there is a 2% increase in the number of exhibitors this year compared to the previous year's event. This emphasizes the standing GDS enjoys as the leading shoe trade fair in central and northern Europe.
GDS Dusseldorf shows 780 brands in September
Over the past several seasons, GDS has increasingly established itself as a groundbreaking information, trend, and networking platform for the shoe industry. Many new exhibitors such as Date, Cubanas, Reebok, Stuart Weitzmann and Creative Recreation will be showcasing their collections as well. Collections by young labels such as Fly London, Replay, Pepe Footwear, Kangaroos and others will be shown at booths in Hall 3. About 100 up-and-coming young creative brands are being featured in the “Design attack” area. “The shoe industry is clearly recuperating after the rather difficult year in 2009. This is also reflected in the excellent exhibitor numbers for GDS,” explains GDS director Kirstin Deutelmoser, adding that “the fact that the first half of 2010 was satisfactory for the German shoe retail trade is a good sign that those on hand will be in the mood for placing their orders for the forthcoming season.”
