MANGO LOOKS TO EXPAND MENSWEAR

The Spanish fast-fashion retailer Mango, which took out a stand at the fashion fair Who’s next, is seeking franchise partners for its menswear concept He by Mango. The Barcelona-based company wants to open five to 10 new standalone stores in the next year in Europe. Management is focusing on France and Italy and will also reinforce its presence in its native Spain. The collection is distributed in 117 corners in 17 countries and five standalone stores in Barcelona, Madrid, Santander, Valencia, Dubai, Toulouse and Ankara. A new one will open soon in Annecy.

Georgina Pratginestos, head of public relations, said: “At the moment, we have corporate and franchise stores and we want to keep both concepts. The standalone stores have priority, the multibrand corners could become the next step.”

He by Mango was started in March 2008, with a price range similar to that of Mango’s womenswear collection. For the next summer 2010 season, He by Mango will offer 80 styles, with a casual yet classical aesthetic. The line places a value on details, structure, quality interiors and finishings.

Stage actor Max Irons, son of legendary actor Jeremy Irons, is currently the face of the brand. He followed Vladimir Restoin, son of French Vogue editor in chief Carine Roitfeld.
