LIU JO BETS ON RUSSIA

After its positive sales results obtained during the last seasons, Liu Jo plans to strengthen its presence in Russia. A new chapter opens for the Italian company which, today more than ever, is endeavouring to strengthen and consolidate its presence on international markets.
 
This decision derives from a clear strategic vision, based on the firm belief that at present Russia, the former Soviet Republics and the Baltic States are a key area for the development of the Liu Jo brand from both the commercial viewpoint and its image. On 17th April 2012, Liu Jo signed a joint venture agreement with IFD, its historical distributor and partner on the market. This joint venture marked the establishment of a new company called Liu Jo Russia&Republic Retail.
 
The new company will focus on retail investments in Russia, the former Soviet Republics and the Baltic States to ensure a strong presence of the brand in the most prestigious locations. Consequently,  Liu Jo R&R Retail is developing an ambitious plan that, during the Fall/Winter 2012 season, will envisage the first step expanding the Moscow store at the Europeisky City Shopping  Mall: this store will become the largest and most important Liu Jo point of sale in the area.
 
Marco Marchi, vice-president and head of style of Liu Jo, states: "The Russian Federation and Commonwealth of Independent States are still a very important commercial target for European operators and for several seasons it has developed into an increasingly significant market for Liu Jo. That is why we believe that the right time has come to invest and be even more present in a market characterized by such a strong potential. And we can do so thanks to the long-lasting relationship we have developed with IFD, which we consider an ideal partner to implement such a significant retailing project with us."
 
The journey of Liu Jo through Russia with IFD started in 2007 with a distribution agreement addressing multi-brand  clients and today the Liu Jo collections are sold in over 120 multi-brand points of sales nation-wide.
 
The retail presence of Liu Jo includes eleven single-brand points of sale: this geographical area is one of the main international markets for Liu Jo, which in 2011 recorded a turnover exceeding 7 million Euros, with approximately a 30% growth compared to 2010, and an expected 2012 turnover of almost 10 million Euros.
