LaRinascente's renewed 6th floor in its Milan house

LARINASCENTE CONTINUES RENOVATIONItalian major department store, LaRinascente, has just totally renewed the 6th floor in its Milan house: a 2,000 sqm area dedicated to home decor. This space adds on to the already existing 2,000 sqm ‘Design Supermarket’, opened a year ago, hosting prestigious design brands’ home decor products.
LaRinascente’s constant process of redesign and adapting to the modern evolution of the market is taking new steps. “Aim of our operations, including the present one, is to reposition La Rinascente as the reference point in terms of what’s new for design objects, food, apparel,” comments Alberto Baldan, CEO, LaRinascente. The restructuring of the 6th floor required a €3 million investment and lasted for six months, while the entire store was still maintained open.
Architect Aldo Cibic who redesigned the area and also did the renovation of the Design Supermarket a year ago, commented: “I redesigned this floor considering the wide variety of merchandise offered taking inspiration from an ideal market square, a bazaar and an arcade through which the eye can immediately recognize what’s offered.”
LaRinascente will continue its redesign process which now reached about 80% of its total. In 2011, the Jam area is to be renovated, dedicated to casualwear, and within 2012 also the mens’ fashion and classic womenswear areas are said to be refurbished.
Moreover, newly bought location in Rome's Via del Tritone will be opened by spring/summer of 2013. It will have a total area of 22,000 sqm, of which 14,000 sqm will be dedicated to sales. Architect Aldo Cibic will also be in charge for this new project.
Alberto Baldan was also satisfied with the development of sales: “Within the January-August 2010 period we noticed a 8% increase in sales, compared to the same period of time in 2009.” In 2009, LaRinascente registered a total turnover of €360 million, of which €220 million were generated by LaRinascente Duomo. The group owns ten stores, all of them are in Italy. Future plans for the next five years might include new stores in Venice, according to a special project by Rem Koolhas, plus Verona, Bologna and Naples.
