LA ROSA MANNEQUIN EXHIBITS IN GETARIA

La Rosa, the Milan-based mannequin specialist, is the subject for a new exhibition at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa in Getaria, Spain titled "ManneQUEEN, since 1922,” which runs from April 20 through July 15 and was curated by Gigi Rigamonti.

The show will display various mannequins, queens and style icons manufactured in plastic and other materials. Viewers are led through a 90-year period running from the hyper-personalization of mannequins of the 1920's and 30's to the neutrality and “disappearance” of the present day mannequin. The figures are accompanied by the materials that were used to build them, along with photos from the past, unpublished documents and historical objects.

The exhibition is not only a simple presentation of mannequins, but also looks at the ways in which the human body has been viewed throughout the last century until today and at the ways in which visual art - cubism, surrealism, realism, minimalism – has impacted those visions. It is therefore an exhibition of anthropological and artistic interest, while also examining various ways of presenting clothing to the public.

The show will display various mannequins, queens and style icons manufactured in plastic and other materials.
