FRANKIE MORELLO LAUNCHES ATHLETIC LINE

The Italian pret-à-porter brand Frankie Morello has signed a licensing agreement for the production and distribution of a men’s and women’s Frankie Morello Athletic collection with Albisetti, a licensing specialist manufacturer of accessories, beachwear and underwear for top fashion brands.

The new active-inspired collection is aimed at 16- to 35-year-olds who love the gym and sports. The line’s silhouettes and materials focus on high-performance and comfort while maintaining the ironic, stylish and innovative brand DNA.

Distribution in Italy and abroad will be done through Albisetti’s network, with the goal of developing the brand in Italy and Europe, followed by America and Japan. The accurate distribution strategy will focus on select multibrand sports stores, underwear stores with sports apparel corners, select gym circuits and leading department stores.

“Considering our love for sports,” said designers Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti, “we have thought about a totally gym-oriented collection. And it was strategic for us to involve a production partner as Albisetti, a leading group in the underwear and beachwear segments. We are happy about this newly reached target and we expect to further consolidate our relationship with the company that is already working successfully as our accessory licensing partner.”

“The new Athletic license, adding to the accessory one, will help us consolidate the distribution of this brand that still has high potential,” said Antonio Bianchi, CEO, Albisetti.

The new agreement starting from S/S 11 will also encompass the production and distribution of Frankie Morello Sexywear (underwear and beachwear) line.

The Frankie Morello house was launched in 1999 following a meeting between Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti. The brand, owned by the two designers, has since signed significant licensing agreements with Gilmar group in 2004 (apparel production and distribution), Calzaturificio Agostini (footwear production and distribution), Albisetti (accessories, jewelry, scarves, ties). For S/S 09 it launched a Frankie Morello toys and kid’s footwear line. In 2008 the brand opened its Milan headquarters and in February 2009 inaugurated its first flagship store at Corso Matteotti 3, in Milan.

Albisetti, established in 1977, has worked for significant fashion houses producing ties, scarves, underwear and beachwear that is distributed through a highly prestigious global network. At present it handles licensing agreements for Roberto Cavalli, Just Cavalli, John Galliano, Bikkembergs, Chloe, Jil Sander, Alexander Mc Queen, Alviero Martini and Vivienne Westwood.
