The light-flooded 230 sqm store at Calwer Straße 19 stretches over three floors and stocks men’s and women’s fashion from the three M+F Girbaud lines ‘Le jean de Marithé + François Girbaud,' ‘Designer & Casual’ and ‘Actlive (Intemperie).' Its interior was designed in the style of the Paris-based M+F Girbaud flagship store, which was conceived by renowned interior designer Patrick Norguet in 2010. Furnishings made of metal, polymers, epoxy resin, sycamore maple, aluminum and glass are spotlighted by energy-saving light solutions that mediate a high-quality impression of lightness while modular rack and hanging systems by shop-fitting company Visplay allow for a playful and versatile presentation of wares.
The denim shelves especially stand out as an eye-catcher as every pair of denim is folded in a special way that makes Girbaud’s “ankle signage,” a colorful highlight inside the jeans' cuffs, visible.
The opening of the Stuttgart-based M+F Girbaud shop was quite a spontaneous undertaking initiated by shop owner Brigitte Lederer, who has operated successful designer boutiques in both Reutlingen and Stuttgart for years. “I was originally planning to open up another multi-brand store here in Stuttgart until I decided to make my dream come true and establish a Girbaud-only boutique. That was in August 2011 – and since then, things have been going really quickly,” the businesswomen explained and added, “I have always stocked the M+F Girbaud collections and I stand behind the brand one hundred percent.”
Meanwhile, François Girbaud himself expressed his pleasure with the new venue. “We have always had a lot of loyal customers in Germany, so it’s actually incredible that the first German M+F Girbaud store is opening only now. I am very happy with the shop and the location. It would of course be great if we had stores like this all over the country.” Further expansion plans, however, will not be worked out until Girbaud gets down to business with a new industry partner, whose name has yet to be disclosed. “It’s too early for an announcement, but we are close to signing a contract,” were the only words the Grand-Seigneur of denim would reveal about the partnership.
