Esprit store Cologne

ESPRIT OPENS LIGHTHOUSE STORE IN COLOGNEYesterday Esprit opened a new store in Cologne implementing its new store concept. The so-called ’Lighthouse Stores’ are part of a transformation program that was introduced in September of 2011 with the aim to strengthen the profitability in the following four years. Until 2015, Esprit is investing more than €280 million.
Besides two other locations in Germany, the company chose Cologne to remind of the very first Esprit store which was opened in 1986 in Cologne. The store is located on the highly-frequented Ehrenstraße and was designed according to the motto “Back to the roots”. Thus, the interior design is a mix of wooden materials and rough cement elements, self-made pictures and an exclusive greenhouse. The design was created by the architect’s office Reich und Wamser of Dusseldorf in cooperation with the creative team of Esprit. One of the details which represent the brand’s focus on sustainability is that the hangers are made out of recycled wood.

Next to collections for men and women, bodywear, shoes and accessories, the store offers local products such as individual retro bikes, illustrated books and music.
For the opening event on Wednesday night, 300 guests from the fields of art, design, music, fashion and architecture got together and enjoyed relaxing chill-out music and finger food while watching video installations by Cologne-based film-makers Arne Münch, Markus Hoppen and Johannes Siemens.
