Diesel Black Gold appoints new Creative Director
Diesel Black Gold has appointed Andreas Melbostad as the new Creative Director for its womenswear collection. The Norwegian fashion designer starts in his new position in conjunction with the fall/winter season 2013 and will unveil his first pre-fall 2013 collection next December, followed by the ready-to-wear show in New York in February 2013.
Melbostad started his career with Nicole Farhi in London, before relocating to Paris where he collaborated with Alber Elbaz – on the Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche collections. His previous experience also involved positions at Nina Ricci in Paris and at both Donna Karan and Calvin Klein in New York, before becoming the Creative Director of Phi. More recently, Andreas has been running his own New York-based consulting company.
The designer’s appointment marks another important step in Diesel Black Gold’s development strategy. The brand opened its first own mono-brand boutique in New York (Soho) earlier this year, with further new store openings on the agenda for 2013.
