DENIM BY PV ATTENDANCE UP 34%Denim by Première Vision recently concluded its sixth edition, breaking all prior attendance records with 1,990 visitors. This represents a 34% increase in visitors from a year ago. International visitors, which now account for two-thirds of all entries, rose 39%, while the number of visitors from France increased 24% to 667, marking the show’s growing international appeal.
Italy sent the largest contingent of buyers to the show after France, and was followed by the United Kingdom, Turkey and Germany. The Netherlands (+29%) and Belgium (+97%), in 6th and 9th positions respectively, further confirmed the importance of denim in Northern Europe. There was from the region also a surge in the number of Swedish buyers (+73.5%), and equally noteworthy was the growing turnout by US visitors, whose numbers rose 66%.
Visitors included a prominent array of international retailers and brands such as Abercrombie, & Fitch Acne, A/X Armani Exchange, Burberry, Carhatt, Célio, Citizens of Humanity, CK Jeanswear, Diesel, G-Star, H&M, Ikks, Le Temps des Cerises, Levi Strauss, Mango, Marc Jacobs, Marithé & François Girbaud, NU, Pepe Jeans, Polo Ralph Lauren, Top Shop, Urban Outfitters, Wrangler and Zara.
While enlarging its offer this session to include major operators in the sector (new exhibitors accounted for 12% of the total exhibitor count), Denim by Première Vision remained focused on its core business. Of the 70 exhibitors coming from 18 countries, 62% were weavers, 24% were manufacturers/launderers, 10% accessory makers and 1% fiber producers and dyers, with each sector counting within its ranks most of the field’s major players.
