COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK: WELL ATTENDEDLast week Copenhagen was again the place to go for the fashion crowd. During the Copenhagen Fashion Week that took place August, 11-14, the four Danish fashion fairs such as Gallery, Ciff, CPH, Terminal 2 and several designer shows around the city attracted many buyers, retailers and fashion professionals to see the collections for next summer, the latest streetlooks, to celebrate and join the catwalk of 1 mile. Although whether could have been better the mood was optimistic and business was going forward.
From the first day on, organizers were very satisfied with the growing international attendance. As Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) announced, fair at Bella Center was visited by 24,653 buyers, which is on level with last august. The number of international visitors grew by 7% in comparison to August 2009 on a total of 7,101 buyers from abroad. Also Gallery in Forum Copenhagen was very content with numbers of visitors. Fair had a total of 11,400 visitors over three days. This total is the highest ever for Gallery in August and represents a 4.6% increase in comparison to August 2009. CPH was visited by 10,142 and Terminal-2 by 12,317 visitors, mainly from key markets like the UK, Benelux, Germany, France and Scandinavia. In August 2009, total visitor numbers for Terminal-2 and CPH Vision were 20,619 and in February 2010 25,370 buyers visited the fairs.
For the very first time all Copenhagen based fairs have teamed up with the trade association Dansk Mode & Textil to create one big event on different locations shorten on three days. The aim was to grow Copenhagen Fashion Week and in fact it was the biggest Copenhagen Fashion Week ever. New partnership will also remain for next seasons, for February Copenhagen Fashion Week is brought earlier by a week, now rescheduled from week 6 to week 5 of 2011. The autumn fair will follow accordingly, taking place during week 31 instead of week 32.
