COLLECTION PREMIÈRE ISTANBUL TO EMPHASIZE DESIGN OVER MANUFACTURINGThe fashion trade show Collection Première Istanbul, operated by ITKIB, the Istanbul Textiles & Apparel Exports Association, in partnership with Igedo Fashion Fairs in Dusseldorf, will be held on the Taskisla campus of Istanbul Technical University this summer from August 26-28, 2010. With CPI, Turkey hopes to move towards becoming a country known less for its fashion production than its fashion designs. It is anticipated that 40% of the total 7,000-sq.-meter exhibition space will be allocated to international brands and designers. The show has already attracted the attention of brands such as Noir, Triumph, Falke, Bugatti, Burlington, Tally Weijl, Roeckl, Caramelo and Helmut Lang. “The ‘Made in Turkey’ tags on international brands indicates our production power,” explained ITKIB Chairman Hikmet Tanriverdi. Presently, Turkish brands are distributed in nearly 2,000 stores in 70 countries across the globe. Additional to new CPI, CPD also operates Collection Première Moscow (CPM).
