Billykirk unveils its first shop

Billykirk, the 15-year-old leather and canvas accessories brand founded and run by brothers Chris and Kirk Bray, has opened its first ever standalone store. Located at 16A Orchard Street in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, the 750-sq.-foot (70-sq.-meter) shop includes a retail area in the front with a wholesale showroom in the back. The showroom area also has an outdoor courtyard and exposed brick walls that were discovered after removing sheetrock.

Though the opening party was held on Wednesday night, the shop will be open to the public for the first time today. It stocks the complete, current collection of the brand’s bags, belts, wallets and bicycle accessories plus locally produced candles, mugs and other items.

The retail area also features a customization area where shoppers will be able to see their items created and personalized. Metallic lighting fixtures complement the glossy, all-white interior and Kirk Bray’s paintings and artwork are on display throughout the store and showroom.

Billykirk was founded in Los Angeles in 1999 and has been based on the East Coast since 2005. All of its items are handcrafted in-house or by Amish artisans in Pennsylvania. It is sold in the US, Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, China, Korea, the UK and Belgium and by various international online retailers.
