BREAD & BUTTER WITH SPECTACULAR KICK-OFFBread & Butter kicked off its anniversary issue on Tuesday night with a spectacular opening party on the night before the official opening of the tradeshow. In addition to the B&B community, also 10,000 people living in Berlin were invited to the party that featured live-acts by Mos Def, Airbourne and Deichkind. Special highlight was a huge X that at night was set on fire and fireworks all around it.
Today, doors officially opened at 10am and halls were crowded right from the start. People seemed to be in a really good mood, the weather just reinforced the relaxed and optimistic atmosphere. The booths also reflected this light summer mood, with Desigual having decorated their booth with fresh fruit all over the place or Hilfiger Denim having installed a whole swimming pool with models swimming or hanging out.
Again, G-Star held a vibrant fashion show in their G-Star tent with superloud music and many models on the catwalk that presented a lot of white denim and all kinds of blue shades for next summer.
Exhibitors seemed to be quite busy and - in general - said that there was a high frequency at their booths and also the quality of visitors was very good. Heiner Sefranek of Mustang said: “Gigantic. The selection of brands and the atmosphere are outstanding. The nice weather came just in time. An interesting, international audience that also is very open-minded towards new trends.”
Retailers tend to look especially for bright colors, regarding both apparel and footwear. “A good kick-off that already started at 10am with people coming to the booth. New colors like coral, mint and light pink shades are very well received,” said Rich & Royal’s Patrick Stupp.
In the press conference before the opening party, Karl-Heinz Müller stated: “Ten years are nice, but this is just the beginning.” He could imagine the tradeshow taking place in Berlin for 18 further years. According to Müller, right now, the focus is on Berlin, there are no plans to expand with Bread & Butter outside of Germany. Answering the question on visitor numbers, Müller stated: “We don’t talk about numbers. But visitor numbers are stable and people are spending more time on the booths.”
