BOOT SHOP-IN-SHOP LAUNCHES AT COCKPIT USAIt’s all about boots at the Cockpit USA store in New York City for the next few weeks. The military-themed store at 652 Broadway, which is home to its own in-house contemporary menswear brand CPT (Civilian Pilot Training), is currently hosting a shop-in-shop that showcases 1940s and 1950s military-inspired footwear by five different and well-regarded boot brands: Corcoran, Danner, Palladium, Timberland Boot Company and Wolverine.
Each brand has its own display area in the store’s second floor. Product highlights include a style made with a single piece of leather by Danner, a nearly 80-year-old heritage boot company based in Portland, Oregon that has recently been discovered by such fashion stores as J. Crew and Steven Alan, and jump-inspired boots by Corcoran.
The temporary boot shop, which is Cockpit’s third ever shop-in-shop, was kicked off last week with a launch party that included cocktails, free shoe shines and shaves by Sharps Barber. The shop-in-shop will be in place at the store until November 24, 2010.
