ASOS LAUNCHES GERMAN AND US WEBSITEBritain’s largest online fashion store ASOS unveiled both a US and German shopping website. The US site offers customers a customized 'American' experience, with pricing, American product language and culturally relevant marketing such as newsletters, site banners and a social media campaign. The German shop is also customized to German needs with the language, prices in euro, and German sizes. Shipping to the US is free whereas customers in Germany are charged a fixed rate of €3. Returns are free of charge in both countries.
“We bring fashion to your home, whether that’s in New York, Chicago or Topeka, Kansas. That’s something the average 22 year-old is looking for in an online shop and what separates us from bricks and mortar shops,” says Nick Robertson, CEO and founder of ASOS.
ASOS was founded in 2000 by Nick Robertson who started the company with three employers. With over 1,200 employers and 8.1 million visitors a month, today it has grown to one of the most successful online shops in the world. The company posted sales of $370 million for the year ending in March 2010 with international sales and growth leading the way. Furthermore, ASOS has recently announced a partnership with River Island, the established British high street retailer. Starting this month, the brand will be available on the website to a new global audience in over 170 countries. Other famous brands are already partners with ASOS such as Current/Elliott, K by Karl Lagerfeld, French Connection, Superdry, Lipsy and Hugo Boss.
