55DSL EYEWEAR GOES TO MARCOLIN

In October 2010 Marcolin Group signed a worldwide licensing agreement contract detailing their production and distribution of Diesel eyewear. It has now been announced that the Italian eyewear specialist will also manage the sunglass and prescription frame license for 55DSL, a younger-minded brand of the Diesel group. The 55DSL eyewear line is inspired by the same lively and irreverent spirit as the apparel and lifestyle of its mother brand whose artistic director and creative mind is Andrea Rosso. The first collection will be launched in 2013 and distributed at Diesel stores and opticians and department stores worldwide.

Maurizio Marcolin, the Style and Licensing Officer of Marcolin Group, declared, “This agreement further binds the ongoing relationship between Diesel and its owner Renzo Rosso. I like the creative and non-conformist approach the 55DSL brand has towards street and graphic design forms of expression as well as the pop world. I'm sure that the young and free-spirited talents that will collaborate with us will bring an innovative style to the brand and the whole eyewear market.”

In 2011 Marcolin sold approximately 6 million glasses in over 800 models. The portfolio of the group’s brands includes Balenciaga, Cover Girl, Eyewear, Diesel Shades, DSquared2 Eyewear, Hogan Eyewear, John Galliano Eyewear, Just Cavalli Eyewear, Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Miss Sixty Glasses, Montblanc Eyewear, Replay Eyes, Roberto Cavalli Eyewear, Swarovski, Timberland, Tod’s Eyewear and Tom Ford Eyewear. Among its own brands are Marcolin and Web Eyewear.

Diesel directly controls 19 subsidiaries worldwide in over 80 countries with more than 5,000 stores that include over 400 mono-brand shops. It is part of the OTB Group, the holding that also manages Maison Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf and the Staff International group, which is licensor, manufacturer and distributor of brands such as DSquared2, Just Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Man and Marc Jacobs Men.
