Back to Seventies
Boutiques and street markets, going through her mother’s closet in order to find unique items able to convey that retro elegance typical of the old-days star : that’s her! She’s hippie, colored, light and floating. But also sensual and a bit femme fatale. She refers to the sophisticated Yves-Saint-Laurent woman being also able to look at the African continent, in order to steal shapes, colors and suggestions out of it.
It is the hippie-chic atmosphere of the 70s, a Charlie’s Angel that alternates a hippie safari image with a more than feminine one with kaleidoscopic colors. The day-wear is marked out by curled blouses, trapezoidal dresses and light tops, with ethnic and geometrical prints on georgettes and creponnes. From the African desert comes the inspiration of safari blouses, saharians large blouses in warm colors and suede jackets.
Essential to reach the real appeal of the 70s are open-work sweaters with strings or ribbons, whose neutral tones shine thanks to the brilliance of acrylic.
Trousers have straight legs, they sometimes stop at the ankle.
The main feature is represented by cargos.
Jeans are lightened with stones and shining trimmings, studs and precious buttons. The new entry of this mood is a shy and a bit large leg, a fundamental element in the summer parade of the 70s. Treatments are strong and sandblasted, colors are marked.
An ultra-feminine and also non conventional woman cannot release the suit, that is both saucy in a tight model of jeans to find and in a bit prouder one of polished jersey.
At dusk we find cocktail dresses with asymmetrical necks and cut at the bias, that give volume and lightness. As for glam parties there are soft and tapered long dresses that underline the hips thanks to richly adorned high-waist belts.
Concerning the accessories we find maxi bags for the day and clutch bags for the evening.
Here the colors of the ground prevail: burnt orange, emerald green, coral red, cobalt blue, gold and black. Among the materials there are polished satin, cotton and silk to remember.
Pastoral Romance
Take a big flowery meadow and a woman wearing just its flowers.
It is the sight of a woman that loves to live in the open-air and to wear soft and romantic clothes. A bit like "The little House on the Prairie" but without losing sight of femininity and seduction as a sly game.
The main character of this mood wears clothes inspired by the garden, in a profusion of flowers printed on textiles and drawn by a soft and fresh hand. A blase of lace, ruches and printed muslin.
A soft and poetic style, skillfully mixed up with denim cloths and chambrays, that convey a more urban connotation.
The silhouette is light and soft, free shapes that matches with the movement. Volumes become wide for dresses ready to swell to spring-breezes. Very fine and fresh, they caress the body and touch the ground.
Knitwear is made up of curled and romantic blouses, cotton-tops with soft and poetic prints or ornaments in matching tones. But also very feminine blouses, with little and soft floral ornaments and fair lines stopped every now and then by the game of ruches.
A leading role is up to mini dresses with their flounces of creponne and printed muslins with micro and macro patterns to combine both with soft and light cardigans and with more elaborate ones. The waist takes here its natural position and is remarked by little treated suede belts.
Dresses can be of very different lengths, instead skirts and shorts are very short.
The must have of this mood are trousers at the ankle, but also more comfortable jeans, with strong treatments and washings on clear and soft toils.
Here come natural and pinkish tones to play, such as sky blue, lilac, light green and beige. But white is the most important color.
Textures are: chiffon, cotton muslin, printed silk and chambray.
Preppy new Glam:
Masculine and feminine, little girl and young woman, innocent and seductive. The woman of this mood lives and plays with these dualisms. The atmosphere is contemporary and metropolitan, an energetic woman acting like a Designer Manager, who carefully chooses what to wear, wisely blending different articles with a very unique and personal style.
She is bold and she borrows items from her boyfriend’s closet without releasing some hot details such as necklines and short clothes. A reversal of dimensions is enough to give a touch of innovation to your closet.
So the blazer becomes reduced and sexy, matched with a blouse of chambray strictly open to combine with comfortable and slack trousers.
Masculine textures and cuts that build an easy and characteristic look.
Squares and stripes on blouses to match with bon-ton cardigans and denim shorts. Shapes are sober and well structured, but sometimes also fluent and comfortable for the basic and sporty items, that are essential for a preppy style. Lengths swing between the medium and the short length.
Nerd, impudent, collegial, androgynous but also vaguely retro in the micro patterns of the large cotton dresses. Inevitable are patterns and the navy prints, with series of stripes following different directions.
Trousers have straight legs, they sometimes stop at the ankle, jeans are turned-up and characterized by strong and dark washings. The main materials are poplin of cotton, united and printed jersey, satin of cotton, chambray for all the items and light gabardine. Colors are strong, such as cobalt blue, red and mint-green, toned down by items in more classical colors such as beige and off-white.
The must have accessorizes of the preppy girl are the maxi bag of leather, the little and tight belts and the Panama, covering the forehead and suggesting the holiday atmosphere.
